皮膚血管由多種細胞和非細胞物質組成。內皮細胞是構成皮膚血管主要細胞類型。內皮細胞不僅是血管內腔和血管外的分界，還是細胞和大分子物質擴散的選擇性屏障。皮膚微血管內皮細胞與其它內皮細胞有著同之處，也有其自身特點。如能夠活化參與多種生理過程，包括創傷愈合、止血、溫度調節和炎癥調整（白細胞運輸）。內皮細胞的結構和功能在不同的時間和空間有著不同的變化。內皮細胞通過增殖、休眠、凋亡和老化這4個基本的細胞狀態來建立皮膚微血管維持和重塑之間的動態平衡。
人真皮微血管內皮細胞(HDMEC)提取于人真皮組織，于**代末期凍存。每管含有細胞數超過5×105/ml，此細胞通過vWF/Factor?VIII和CD31?(P-CAM)免疫熒光染色驗證，經測試不含有HIV-1、HBV、HCV、支原體、細菌、酵母和真菌。細胞可以達到15倍增。
